Subject and Association Description
Toss Woollaston spent several weeks in early 1959 painting fulltime around Greymouth. He still had a portion of his 1958 annual Association of New Zealand Art Societies Fellowship left and used some in a fruitful period of drawings and watercolours, though the experience left him dissatisfied with his progress in oils.
Some of the works from this period were exhibited in March at Gallery 91, Christchurch's first contemporary art dealer gallery.
