Official Opening of the Panmure Ferro-Concrete Bridge across the Tamaki River. The bridge was opened by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. W.F. Massey, 14th August 1916.

The public were concerened about the strength of the new materials used to construct the bridge so the Prime Minister drove two of his steam driven traction engines across the bridge. The smoke stack of one engine is visible in the the upper middle of the photograph.

The bridge was in use until 1959.
