About this object
A Model 40 Universal Avometer used by the Chemistry Department of Canterbury College (now the University of Canterbury). Avometer is a British trademark for a series of multimeters and electrical measuring instruments, made between 1923 - 2008. This model allows for both direct and alternating current ranges.
Working instructions are listed in detail on a metal plate on the back of the device.
