Rangiriri Heritage Centre

A unique collection of memorabilia compiled by historian and teacher Pat Gaitely, dating from the 1863 Battle of Rangiriri. Enter through the cafe.

The historic collection is housed in the cafe and adjacent theatre. View our audio-visual show. A sympathetic portrayal of the land war in a 15 minute audio visual in the theatre. Visit the cemetery opposite where all the soldiers and many Maori were buried. You can also visit Te Whero's redoubt, the war cemetery opposite and the Paa, with new symbolic recreation, where the battle was fought on the 20th November 1863.
