From seaweed and shellfish to sharks and seabirds, the Marine environment of southern New Zealand is rich and diverse. The University of Otago's New Zealand Marine Studies Centre and Aquarium roll back the tide to introduce the secrets of the Southern Ocean to visitors. Peek inside a shark egg, shake hands with an octopus or look at plankton through the microscope. Touch tanks provide visitors with a hands-on experience and display tanks feature Marine species of New Zealand's southern waters.
